The Red Ballon

Finally got round to watching The Red Ballon. Stunning.

Yeasayer Ambling Alp

The New Yeasayer single. Fucking immense. I love this band so much. Download above or listen here

My friend Mat always said they sounded like Fleetwood Mac, I didn't really hear it until I heard Tango In The Night

Invictus Trailer

Do you remember when Matt Damon was in Stuck On You?

Feaverish Photography Blog

Another Halloween thing

Anya Schiller

One of my favourite folios in ages. I'm assuming the crusts in the first picture are related to the curls in the second picture but who knows. from feaverish photography and Flickr

Spotify Albums Vol 4

The BQE - Sufjan Stevens. Sufjan's 'symphonic and cinematic exploration of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. Has some stunning moments. Sufjan is well down on the music business at the moment, basically saying he doesn't see the point of crafting an album in this day and age. Although I'm sure my Spotify albums lists aren't making anyone any money, at least it is celebrating the album. The 'Test Match' of popular music, and not singles, the fly by night 20:20 cricket medium, if you pardon the analogy.
There Will Be blood soundtrack - Jonny Greenwood Brooding and beautiful
Bromst - Dan Deacon Lo fi bangers
Tusk - Fleetwood Mac. Rumours annoys me a bit because the hits stick out as they have so many cultural connotations connected to them, Tusk does quite have that problem.
A playlist from saturday night's pre lash
Tour De France - Kraftwerk. To my eternal shame I hadn't listen to this until Spotify was invented. Essential electro etc.
She Wolf - Shikira. Yeah? and?...listen to track 2 and come back to me.
90's R&B - The Masters. is it? ...yes it is.

Rules - The Whitest Boy Alive. I honestly had no idea they had a second album out. pretty good.
Beethoven Symphonies No.7 & 8 fuck number 8, but number 7 and 9 are off the chain.

(Agi has told me I need to clarify that even though I am sincere about my enjoyment of classic music, the terminology I use to express my enjoyment (sick, ill, off the chain etc) is used on a strictly ironic basis)

Daytripping: Bon Iver

It's easy to forget but Pitchfork really does make the world a better place.

Jon Richardson 6music

Jon Richardson's radio programme is brilliant, Sunday morning's 6music 10am-1pm, very very funny. The highlights podcast might work better for you here. Like many great comedians he is playing at Soho theatre in the coming weeks. dates etc here.

EDIT: Jon read out an email i sent him on his 18th Oct show. yes! about 17 mins in.

Hamiton's Pharmacopeia from VBS.TV

This is such a good documentary, quite inspiring - it's inspires me to travel and make films, it inspires a certain housemate that will remain nameless to take mushrooms but you know, different people different...choices. It's about a guy, Hamilton Morris, traveling 5 days down the Amazon river to find a rare frog to extract the venom from, and get crunked up. Brilliant.

The Obama's by Annie Leibovitz

Ahh.

EDIT: did you see this in The Guardian on Saturday? a full day after I posted it.

TOMthinks 1 - The Guardian 1289

Curren$y

Yoooo...

I'm feeling a bit down on hip hop at the moment. Asher Roth's album was shite, Cudi's album was pretty shite, and The Blueprint 3 was shite, 2009 ain't quite living up to the hype. Maybe hip hop IS dead? dunno. I'm not saying Curren$y is the answer to our prayers, I was just using this video post as an excuse to voice my opinions, tis fresh though. He has released numerous mixtapes but this year he released an album called 'This Is Not A Mix Tape" which seems like him saying, "this album aint for free you bastards" so in that spirit click here

One nil us.

I haven't spent much time with it, but seems good, might update this bit when I've had chance to listen more.

Goldsmiths Halloween Party

Looks good. Click to enlarge.

Work It - This Saturday

Been a while. I have made a strange video to explain what you might expect.

Modeselektor - Body Language volume 8

This album is soooo good, party album of the year? mixes dub step with general The Field like brilliance, more and better details here but more importantly download one of the songs by clicking here. It is one of the best songs ever I promise.

Arctic Monkeys Cornerstone Video

If I'm honest, I love this. Everyone does this into the mirror, why not sprinkle it with a bit of Wes Anderson and make a video of it? (for 6 pence)

Alex Prager

It's nice to come across a photographer that is a bit different from the usual 'youths in the sun' stuff I look at everyday. lots lots more on her website.

Spotify Albums Vol 3

Nothing massively new or insightful just trying to help if you can't think of anything.

This Is Hardcore - Pulp My favourite Pulp album...bearing in mind it's the only one I have listened to....but I can tell it's the best by the cover.
Where The Wild Things Are - Karen O & The Kids Not amazing overall but some great tracks in there.
Arab Strap - 10 Years Of Tears Just started listening to Arab Strap personally...
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic Takes some work but I think it will be good.
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours Bret: "Rumours?" Murray: "No it's all true"
Ignore the Ignorant - The Cribs I have a soft spot for The Cribs
Jack Penate - Everything is new seriously have a listen
Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip - Angles never got round to listening to this until recently, it's great.
Sufjan Stevens - Greetings From Michigan One of my all time favourites
Spiritualized - Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space Another all time favourite.

Volume 1 here. Volume 2 here.

Margaret Durow

I know I bang on about photos a lot, but this time I really mean it. I love these pictures. Her site. Her Flickr page. I think I prefer her to Ryan McGinley...woah big call.

Oh and she's 19.

The Midwest Wastland

Nice Satoralist type blog about Chicago here. I haven't made any steps what so ever to move to Chicago but that's still what I'm going to do, specially if these two are knocking about.
