The best new band I saw at The Great Escape was easily Esben and the Witch. Dark, atmospheric, Brighton based, and haunting are all words that seem related. They are playing Latitude, Truck, Field Day and Standon calling I think. A note about Great Escape if you want it. I think it's safe to say we all had a great time, even though it's not very conducive for seeing bands, with all the bands playing at the same time, the venues being spread out and queue being a big issue at the larger venues. It seems a lot more set up for brands to associate with our coolness, every stage and event is aligned with an energy drink or some shit. Having said that Brighton is such a cool place for hanging out none of that really mattered, for every queue there was a a nice tea shop or a cheap chorizo stall to cancel it out.
