Boris Savelev- 31 Years
You could go to this exhibition if you are at a loose end this weekend in LDN (all my ends are tied up with making beats and eating banana bread but you are welcome to go alone)
Library of Congress Archive
The Library of Congress flickr archive is pretty great, especially the 1930-40's in colour section. go take a look here.

The Wire on Google Maps
Here's an idea, instead of googling your own name again why don't you try and find corner boys in West Baltimore? (fuck east side ninjas)

A 100 Single Ladies
I don't like to aid and abet viral advertising but my friend used to do a very funny impression of this dance so this is nice to see.

Nyle's Let The Beat Build video
This video is incredible I think. It would put your faith back in music if it were ever lost. Maybe I'm exaggerating but watch how the instruments are added and see if you agree (maybe even make a comment?) It's a cover of a Kanye produced Lil Wayne song recorded live, more info here.

The Dutchess and The Duke
Best video I've seen in ages. Just seen this on Gareth's blog (sorry I didn't watch it when you put it there 2 months ago good buddy) The images alone would be boring perhaps but used as a projection over the dutchess and the duke (presumably) gives it that killer edge. Most people should make videos then project them over the singer from now on. Double trouble innit.
(think this is my second ever blog from home, the other one was that famous one about the omelet pan)
The Wire scripts and pitch
Someone has unearthed some early scripts and a pitch by David Simon, pretty interesting. here. thanks Chris
michelgondry.com
Michel Gondry's first dvd was one of the main reasons I got into this media game. He has a new one out as well as other cool stuff via his new website. He will also draw you a portrait if you send in a picture of yourself.
One of my favourites.

Compliments
Whenever my self esteem drops below 110% I go and look at the comments on this video I made at university. Seriously, all kinds of love. You should do the same if ever your opinion of me drops.

Conor & Band Documentary
Conor Oberst has been my hero for 8 years officially, but I know hardly anything about him. I kinda want to keep it that way, however I probably wont be able stop myself watching this documentary about him and his mystic valley band filmed by their guitar tech. There are charitable things attached to it too, please take note. Have you heard their new single by the way? Not very good, I wont post it. More info.
The Media Show
If you enjoyed the media aspect (as well as the Dickensian aspect) of The Wire season 5 and are interested in the state of investigative journalism, The Media Show on radio 4 was very good this week. One of the guests suggests that greater investigative journalism into weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the banking systems might have helped us all, interesting point I thought. Listen Again.

Half Nelson Soundtrack
Seeing as my blogging hasn't been up to scratch of late (I would site the bit about Picasso as a nadir) Here is the complete soundtrack to Half Nelson. It's fuxing amazing. There are original songs from Broken Social Scene made especially, brilliant and proper rap songs like the one below, as well as classic hits I'd never heard by people like Rosey Grier. Go on download it and have a cotch.

Monica Canilao & Picasso
Monica Canilao is a very good artist, lots to see and do on her website.
And while were talking about art (we were) the Picasso exhibition at the National is really good (does that sound awfully pretentious? fuck it) it's called Challenging the Past and shows how he reinterpreted existing artwork over his 75 year career to prove he was a genius, well that was one of the reasons I'm sure, pretty inspiring stuff believe me. Like this picture of his first wife...the dude could do what he wanted...not just square banjos. If you are in London hit it up.
The Zimbabwean’s Trillion Dollar Campaign
From CR blog. TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris has created this unusual outdoor campaign for The Zimbabwean, a newspaper produced by a group of exiled Zimbabwean journalists. The Zimbabwean is sold in the UK, South Africa and Zimbabwe but when entering the latter is charged an import duty of 55 per cent, making it unaffordable to the average Zimbabwean. To raise awareness of this, and to encourage more sales of the paper in South Africa, wall murals, billboards and flyers have been created in Johannesburg using the Z$100 trillion dollar note, a symbol of the country’s world record inflation. Worth less than paper, The Zimbabwean has turned the money into its advertising, hoping to raise awareness of the dire situation in the country under the Mugabe regime.
Lil Wanye and Kid Cudi Hammersmith Apollo

The Boston Globe's The Big Picture is well known around the internet but I spent a lot of time using it to find images yesterday and wanted to post to make sure you had been on it. It is a collection of photo journalism from around the world in hi res form. It really gives a great view of things happening you just don't see when casually imbibing the news. At the end of last year the Guardian Weekend had a feature showing the best news photography of the year, it was all from The Big Picture. You can look through the archive by date or category - I suggest you do.
