Magic Clothes

I thought this was a nice article from Vice. As it says there are scientists out there developing magic clothes rather curing cancer and what not, fabrics that react to light and heat and stuff like that. The photos on the article are really cool more than anything.

Ah Sarah

Watch CBS Videos Online

I'm sorry I just can't stop watching clips on the internet regarding the american election, I know it's nothing to do with me but it is the most entertaining thing ever, I know potentially scary but essentially it's like the most entertaining real life/non fiction can get.

Interview Friday

Sod it, it's friday don't work so hard - here is another interview this time between Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart by Entertainment Weekly. It's nice to hear them not in character.

Interviews

I have just read some really nice interviews by my friend Chris' friend Sathnam, He's a journalist for The Times I think previously of the FT, just thought you might like to do the same, there is Bill Bryson, Julie Birchill, Louis Theroux, Nick Clegg and numerous others I haven't heard of. Link.

This blew my mind.

Rupert at work wondered if I needed any location pictures of trashed houses and sent me these...hell of a job for art department if I ever used them.
there is more.

Mini Mix

MixwitMixwit make a mixtapeMixwit mixtapes

At mixwit.com you can make compilations like the one above, they give you the lovely tape player thing at the end, the only problem is you can't use any songs you want you have to use their search thing to find already posted songs. I wanted to remake a beautiful compilation I was made last week but could only find the alaska in winter song...so didn't.

Protesting

If John Lennon were alive today he would be so proud. I'm pretty sure this guy also started a facebook group - there is no way the republicans are getting in on his watch.

Quote

I thought it was the other way round...kind of makes me feel a little better.

TVOTR are back.

The new Tv On The Radio "Dear Science" album is out today! You can hear it now at their myspace, it sounds brilliant already, kinda how Bloc Party would love to sound (If you know how to use file2hd.com you might be able to steal it from myspace's icy grip as well but don't tell 'em I sent you)

EDIT: I have only had it for one day but it's one of the best things of all time, here is a link to a great review and download link, but you should buy at least one copy of it.

Karl's Rival Blog

"Before I buy anything I always go through a few questions in my mind.

1) Do I really need it
2) Have I got room for it
3) When I come to move house, will it be a pain to shift

That's why I don't think I'd ever buy a calf with gold feet in a tank."

Alec Soth

I really like the photographer Alec Soth, probably because I'm a researcher and he shoots a nice variety of subject matter that translates to commercials and all that. I get the same feeling from looking at his work as I do after drinking a glass of really cold apple juice.

Don't

VICE: Why Can't we call her Peter Pan's meth-addict sister?
LAWYERS: You can't imply someone's a meth addict.
VICE:  But we said it's Peter Pan's sister. That's like Santa Claus' best friend or the Easter Bunny's dad.
LAWYERS: Doesn't matter.
VICE: There must be a way we can squeeze that joke in there without getting shit.
LAWYERS: Not really.

Lates

There is very often some great stuff happening in London galleries on friday and saturday nights under the banner "Lates" derived from "late at the tate." There is drinking, bands, screenings, talks - you name it. They have a great easy to read calender here so you can have a look what's on. Tomorrow Peter Saville has a Q&A at the V&A, although nobody over there has had the creative fortitude to actually call it Q&A at V&A.

Nas & Hip Hop downloads

As I said on the radioshow I really like the latest Nas album, Lupe Fiasco is one of my favourites but I think Nas has more poetic and passionate rhymes so he wins so far.  You can get the album as well as loads of hip hop downloads from this highly illegal blog.

Nice Image

this is a nice image. That will be all.

The Beat That My Heart Skipped

Yesterday I watched The Beat That My Heart Skipped. It was brilliant I loved it. A french film about a "young man torn between a life of crime and music." The trailer does it more justice than i could in the way of a description.

Greyscale Day

The skies are grey, the summer has gone...hold on, what is wrong with grey? what's wrong with autumn? I for one look a lot better in a long black coat than I do in shorts, well let's leave my legs for another time, today on this day of apparent gloom I would like to celebrate all that is grey, namely black and white photography, well some of it. I came across the work of photographer Boggie on the tinyvices photography website this morning, I though it was great; full of characters and life, reminded me of the work of photographer Weegie.

Maybe it was just the similarity in names and not any kind of photographic perspicacity on my part, anyway you can be the judge. Here is a nice article about Weegie and click Boogie photo above for more. If you are really into looking at black and white photography of a similar ilk today, there is also Bruce Gilden (a magnum photographer no less) he goes after them characters too, he has a great book about Haiti kind of appropriate to look at what with Haiti being how it is. Sod it look at Gary Winogrand as well, influential street photographer and all that.

This Mess They're In.

I should find this funny but it general it makes me worried, does it matter what barack says? really? the dice is loaded right. Well at least John is trying to help "cut through all the bullshit" He's not on his own either, watch Matt go, kinda shows how little acting he had to do in Good Will Hunting though.

Man Man Album

I really like the latest Man Man album Rabbit Habits. hmmm pigeon holes...gypsy americana? yes that will do.
I would compare it to banana cake if any desert was asked for in comparison. rich in texture, effortlessly timeless, not too sweet, and not for kids...seriously, that's what it is like. I know you swines are unlikely to buy it simply on my recommendation so here is a link to it for free, but promise me if you like it buy a tshirt, go to a gig...you know let them have some of your hard earned in the way of a thank you for making your life a tiny touch better.
